Yoga Instructor Ava Killoran at The Yoga Lab Los Osos

Ava Killoran

What inspired you to start practicing yoga?

I originally came to hot yoga looking for a workout but over time, I became more curious about how it made me feel mentally. I started noticing how much more centered I felt after class, and I kept coming back for that sense of connection to my body. Yoga became a space where I could slow down, breathe, and tune in.

More about me...

What can students expect from your classes?

I want to create classes that feel accessible, grounding, and intentional. You’ll find options to challenge yourself or take it easy, depending on what your body needs that day. Whether you're looking to build strength, increase mobility, or just get a good workout, my goal is for you to walk away feeling more connected to your body.

What’s your favorite (or least favorite) yoga pose and why?

Lately I’ve been loving side angle. It makes me feel strong, grounded, and expansive all at once!

What’s your yoga teaching superpower?

Helping students drop into their breath, their bodies, and the present moment. Whether it’s a challenging sequence or something more restorative, I try to create a space where people feel supported, empowered, and free to move in a way that feels right for them.

What’s one fun or quirky fact about you that most people don’t know?

I can ride a unicycle! It’s been about ten years since I’ve tried, but I like to think it’s just like riding a bike, and it would come back to me??

What lights you up outside the studio?

Being outside and connecting with my community! Whether I’m trail running, paddling on the back bay, or hosting a BBQ with friends, I feel incredibly lucky to live on the Central Coast where I can be outdoors pretty much all the time.
